Emergent Properties creatively leads the design, development, ownership and management of large, mixed-use buildings. Building upon the philosophical approach of emergence, the theme of “Gestalt” (a form or shape, where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts) describes their unique process as it relates to Emergent, leading to innovative solutions. The letterforms are incomplete yet easily understood by mentally filling in the gaps, regardless of typographic orientation within the changing, modular logo.
Evoke Events & Productions is a boutique firm focused on wedding planning, fundraisers, social and corporate events. The aim was to create an elegant, stylish mark that addressed primarily wedding and corporate audiences, without alienating either group. That notion led to the solution of turning a heart symbol on its side to convey a passion for event planning, social interaction, attention to detail, and lips to "seal the deal."
Family-owned Austeville Properties has been offering exceptional rental accommodations in Vancouver for over 40 years. This brand refresh highlights the diversity of buildings and neighbourhoods for those requiring flexible living, and Austeville's fine management of commercial space for retail, office and industrial. I was tasked to update their existing logomark to reflect their new modern approach, working with custom watercolor illustrations by New York-based illustrator, Barry Blitt.
MT Enviro Tank specializes in the detection and removal of furnace oil tanks from residential and commercial properties with minimal disruption to the landscape. Their environmental consulting division, MT Enviro Tech, remediates soil contaminated by hydrocarbons from leaking tanks. To stay competitive and current, simplified naming and a brand refresh was required. The custom logotype uses color to convey each division's focus (land/earth vs. enviro/technical), while the graphic shape (oil drop or lifted tank) connects them visually.
This specialty café on Vancouver's Main Street boasts a fine selection of imported foods, baked goods and freshly made sandwiches. Founded by food stylist Joanne Facchin, the identity reflects the high quality offerings with an air of Parisian elegance.

Joseph Wu is an origami master and paperfolding artist, creating unique and complex art pieces & commercial work professionally for over 40 years. The logo simplifies the basic premise of the Japanese art of origami, where dimensional forms are traditionally folded from a single square sheet of paper. The folded flap at the bottom has a three-fold purpose: to reveal the duality of the sheet (origami paper often has two color sides), to draw out a subtle W shape, and to complete the artist's beard.
Dr. Winnie Su is a well-loved and respected physician specializing in family medicine and childbirth. The identity conveys the kind of audience she caters to—everyone from all ages and walks of life—and her attention to detailed personal care. The two-sided card design addresses the dual language market that she works in.
Developed at the University of Edinburgh, Spinsight's technologies generate real-time 3D animations of live sports events, automatically tracking player movement & behavior. The logomark delivers a sense of spinning or motion detected by the software through a circular icon that conveys computer sight, flexibility and adaptability to change, all coming together towards a single solution. The brand identity was created to attract investors for purchase, with the target goal effectively reached as anticipated.
